Fun Fitness Facts

Today, I’m going to share some fun fitness facts to inspire you to make exercise a regular part of your life. Let me know what motivated you to move more as a result.

  • You are NEVER too old to build muscle – You will lose it naturally if you don’t work at it, so why not lift some weights and maintain strength as you age.
  • A dehydrated muscle will decrease your strength – Always have a water bottle with you to drink throughout the day. Try to consume 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water per day.
  • More muscle = more calories burned at rest – If you want to lose body fat, you really need to lift weights. Added muscle increases your metabolism, making it easier to lose weight and keep it off.
  • You may increase muscle and even gain a pound or two – However, if it’s lean muscle you’ve added, you will notice your clothes fitting better as you gain lean body weight and decrease fat.
  • If you want to be healthy and fit, hang out with others with the same goal – We really do tend to develop similar habits as those we hang out with regularly, so choose friends that make it easier to be healthy and active.
  • It takes longer to lose muscle than it does to build it – That’s good news if you’re away from your routine for a week here and there. Just don’t stay away too long.
  • There is no “Best Time” to exercise – People ask me this often. While I personally think you’re more likely to get it done if you do it first thing in the day, the actual best time to do it is WHEN YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO IT!
  • Regular exercise is linked with more zeal for living – It’s easier to feel enthusiastic about life when you have more energy and feel better. Exercise gives you energy and a positive outlook.
  • Sleep is huge for fat burning and healing – Studies show that the more you sleep, the more your body will be able to burn fat and allow for self-healing. The longer you’re awake, the slower your metabolism becomes. Your brain is busy preserving energy. Research shows that 8.5 hours per night is an ideal amount for most people.

If you’re getting back to regular exercise, please let me know what you’re now doing. I love to hear that my readers are making healthy choices.
